Recommendations
Through producing this report, I have devised the following recommendations
towards cross platform compliance, which may or may not be implemented in the
future.
- File formatting standards for cross platform transfer should be submitted
to the International Standards Organisation (ISO) for approval, before release
to the public domain.
- A new recordable cross platform media format acceptable on PC, Macintosh,
Acorn and other computers.
- Typeface handling across different platforms to converge, so that fonts used
in a multimedia project appear at the same size and leading on any platform.
- The colour palette must be standardised across platforms, to prevent unwarranted
colour changes in graphics sent from one platform to the other.
- All future operating systems should include embedded support for Java technology,
instead of the slower method of patching a Java Virtual Machine over the operating
system.
